It would be advisable for all parties involved in the accident to exchange insurance information.   The police report will state the cause(s) of the accident and which parties are at fault.  The police report will also list the insurance information for all parties.  A party that hit one car and pushed it into another car would be liable for the damage to both cars.  Therefore, liability would not necessarily be limited to the car hit by another party.
