If a prospective tenant paid partial rent and no deposit but changes their mind, does the partial rent paid need to be returned?
Prospective tenant changes her mind and decides not to rent the home. Landlord gave up other prospective tenants believing this person had rented the home.

So long as the prospective tenant has not signed any written lease or orally agreement to a lease (for example a month-to-month lease) the landlord is required under the laws of all states in this country to return all deposits for the rental by the person who decided to not rent the unit. The return of such monies needs to be done as soon as possible.
