My husband was arrested for a probation violation, and I’d like to know if it is likely that he will have to serve his remaining probation in jail, and how long it takes fora court date.

I am a lawyer licensed in CT, not GA but i practice criminal defense law. I can imagine how upset you are with this new incident. You did not give me enough infor about the prior matter for which he was on probation for but i will attempt to try to give you some direction here. The court is going to hold a probation violation hearing to determine whether your husband violated his probabtion. At that point, if found guilty he may be obligated to go to jail for the balance of the term on the earlier charge. For instance, if he got probation with 2 years suspended, then he may have to go to jail to serve those 2 years. I reccomend that he get a lawyer to defend him to try to avoid the probation violation and/or more jail time. I did not get enough info from you on the basis for the probation violation, but he may have defenses.
