Simplified and streamlined probate court proceedings are available for some Pennsylvania estates. These include estates worth less than $25,000. In such cases, the personal representative of the small estate can petition the court to allow the estate to be disbursed and dispense with other Orphan’s Court proceedings.
Every courthouse has different fees. In addition, the court may determine different amounts of compensation for different executors on a case-by-case basis, which can complicate the cost projections for an Orphan’s Court proceeding. If the estate in question is quite valuable, complex, or is disputed, you may wish to consult with an experienced Pennsylvania probate attorney for more information on your legal options.
