What can I do about a pay decrease due to time missed for family illness?

My employeer took $3 an hour away from me because I missed work due to my father’s poor health. I have worked for them for over 2 years. Is there something that I can do or not?

In an "at will" employment relationship, a company can set the conditions of work much as it sees fit. This includes decreasing a worker's hourly rate. That is as long as such an action does not violate the terms of a union agreement or employment contract. Also, the employee's treatment must not constitute some form of legally actionble discrimination (which you did not indicate). Otherwise, an employee can have their wages reduced, or even be terminated, for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
