What to do if our downstairs neighbors are making unfounded accusations against us regarding noise?
They claim we make lots of noise after 10 pm, when we only watch TV at low levels, get up and walk across the room to use the restroom get a snack or get on the computer. We don’t have people over after 10 pm or host parties but they have made several complaints to the landlord, who claims they have “always been sensitive to noise”. I feel they are harassing us based on our age; we are in our 30’s and have a 10 year old residing with us. They are elderly. What are our rights to make sure that we don’t get evicted due to their lies?

The best way to try and resolve the issues with your neighbors regarding the noise issue is to have a face to face meeting with them in an attempt to possibly resolve the dispute. If that is not successful, then unfortunately you will need to get your property manager or the landlord involved to rectify the problem.
I would then follow up with a letter to the landlord as to what the outcome was concerning the meeting. Keep a copy of the letter for future use and need.
