What to do if our 19 year old son was just charged with sexual exploitation of a child on the internet?

He is not allowed to have any contact with his sister because she is 17. In all essence the court has kicked her out of the house so that we can keep a watch on our son. This is a totally unworkable situation and makes her a victim of a crime she had nothing to do with. She would be safe around him. Where can we get help with this? My wife and I are victims here too in that our jobs are in jeopardy because one of us has to be with him at all times. Where can we get help with this situation? What can we expect for sentencing? Does he need to have an attorney other than the court appointed attorney?

Hello. Based on the content of your post, you ought to confer privately with an attorney licensed in the state involved in this incident. This website provides general information and principles of law, not the sort of detailed legal advice of which you are in need. You ought not post details of your issues on a public website. Please, do contact private attorney counsel at this time. The attorney will address all of your concerns.  You should choose an experienced, somewhat older attorney, in my opinion. An attorney who also happens to be a parent likely would be helpful, too. Some attorneys are available seven days for emergency legal needs. Many attorneys will confer initially at no charge. Then, if legal work is performed, some attorneys will provide a reduced fee for financial hardship. Some attorneys may also assist you in limited scope manner to conserve legal costs. All the best.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Answer(s) provided above are for general information only. The attorney providing the answer was not serving as the attorney for the person submitting the question or in any attorney-client relationship with such person. Laws may vary from state to state, and sometimes change. Tiny variations in the facts, or a fact not set forth in a question, often can change a legal outcome or an attorney's conclusion. Although AttorneyPages.com has verified the attorney was admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, he or she may not be authorized to practice law in the jurisdiction referred to in the question, nor is he or she necessarily experienced in the area of the law involved. Unlike the information in the Answer(s) above, upon which you should NOT rely, for personal advice you can rely upon we suggest you retain an attorney to represent you.
