What are my rights if my truck was totaled and I am negotiating with the insurance adjuster on a fair settlement?

He tells me that the insurance company will no longer cover the storage fees at the impound lot. He says they want to move my vehicle to their lot to save the impound storage fee. It has only been a week. Can they do that? And should I let them?

Your insurance policy is a contract; the insurer has to pay for whatever the policy obligates them to--and does not have to pay for anything else. They also have the right to "mitigate" or reduce their costs, such as by moving from a more expensive lot to a less expensive one--they cannot be forced to pay for a higher-cost storage just because it may be more convient for you.
