If someone stole your identity and committed a crime then you can get this conviction removed from your record and placed upon the record of the right person. Records must be obtained from the Police Department or Sheriff's Department proving the identification used for the person arrested, then you have to obtain proper identification records to show that you are not in fact that person. The identity of the correct individual should also be given to them at that time. Coordination with the prosecutors office may also be necessary as a letter from them can be helpful. Once proof is made, a clearance letter should be able to be obtained which can then be presented to the Georgia Crime Information Center or if you live in a different state, the agency which maintains criminal records in your state. Once this documentation is presented, you record is usually corrected within 30 days.
