What to do if my mother-in-law past a couple of years ago and there is still a small bank account that we would like to see dispersed to her 3 kids?
How do we go about getting it? She was in nursing home care for her last years, and I think the state may be entitled to that money, or maybe not.

Well that is something that you need to figure out as soon as you can. If you attempt to probate her estate to collect and distribute the funds (check out small estate proceedings in your state) then it is likely that the funds will be frozen by the state for collection. Contact the state about her account and see what they say. Good luck.
