If my friend’s washing machine broke and flooded my basement, is she responsible for cost of repairs?
This is my house not a rental property. We have separate laundry rooms. It was her washing machine that malfunctioned. She is friend who moved into my house because she needed a place to go. Yes she does pay rent $450 includes everything, but we have no contract-she can leave anytime without notice.She lives in my basement/in-law-suite.

If your friend's own washing machine malfunctioned through no fault of you own where your own property was damaged, then under the laws of all states in this country if you can establish liability and damages against the friend, she should compensate you for the damages that you incurred.
