What can I do to make my doctor’s administrator do her job?

My doctor’s office will not file a letter of medical necessity with my insurance and the ambulance company that he instructed to transport me between hospitals in an emergency situation. The only reason given for not filing this letter is that the administrator has been too busy for the past 6 months and will not do her job. The ambulance bill has been sent to collections now and is currently affecting my credit rating.

You can try informing your doctor that if you end up owing any sums due to his office staff's negligence in failing to file the letter in a timely fashion, that you will sue him to recover the money and also report him to the state licensing board--that may motivate him to order his administrator to get this done. And if she doesn't, then yes--you may be able to sue him to recover any amounts that you owe.
