What are a granprent’s rights to visitation?

My son is 25 and has a 1 1/2 year old child. He’s not married and has had CPS involved twice. As the paternal grandparent, where do I stand with rights? Currently, the maternal grandmother claims she has custody and the daughter is staying with her. I want my grandaughter for visitation time on the weekends.

I suggest that you consult a family law attorney in your locality as to whether your state has any statutes allowing grandparents certain visitation rights with their minor grandchildren. If so, then you need to discuss what your goals and legal options are to have some semblance of visitation rights with the grandchild that you have written about in your question.
