Can I do a name change pro se or do I need to retain an attorney?
After months and months of research and being turned away at the Clerk of Court I need help. Can I petition the court without being represented by an attorney to have my 10 year old child’s name changed? I know that the court will appoint a Guardian Ad Litem for him but do I have to hire an attorney to start the case? If I can, what do I need to do or say to the Clerk to allow me to file this motion myself. I have looked up the code of laws and it does not specify.

Although you can be your own attorney and file it yourself, this can be a difficult matter.
A family law attorney can best handle this for you and if you cannot afford one you may qualify for legal services which provides a free lawyer
