What can I expect to happen regarding an MIP?

I got a notice to appear in court for minor in possession of alcohol. I have no priors and I have a military contract and am awaiting to ship off to basic. What will most likely be my punishment and will my army contract play any role and what I am sentenced with?

My experience with this situation is you cannot join the military with a pending criminal charge.  You will need to quickly dispose of the criminal charge in order to continue your career in the military.  Your army contact will not play a role in the sentence of the criminal charge.  However, pleading to a criminal charge could adversely effect you regarding your military career.  You need to research what type of role a conviction for this charge may have on your military career.  If you have no priors, in all likelihood you will plead to a withhold of adjudication, which does not count as a conviction.  However, the army may have concerns regardless of the plea entered.  You need to contact an attorney and attempt to get the charge dropped as soon as possible.
