What is the law regarding joint employment without consent?
I work for an orthodontist as a front desk administrator. Now the doctor wants to open a new business that has nothing to do with orthodontics. Can he make us work the other business without permission also no change in pay while working both businesses at the same time?

Unless you have protection under the terms of an employment contract or union agreemnt, you can be required to work this other job. While you can't be physically be forced to do so, your employer can terminate you if you do not consent. In fact, as an "at will" worker, you can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
