Is there any way to make the previous owners of a mobile home pay their back taxes?
We just bought a mobile home and the previous owners said they didn’t owe any back taxes on it and come to find out they owe $500 worth of back taxes. The mobile home is now in our name and the tax people said we will not be able to pay our taxes until the back taxes are paid.

The taxing authority has no right to come after you for these monies. This should have been done by the authority by attaching a lien or paying off the tax and holding a tax lien sale through the previous owner. At this point, file a complaint with the state attorney general for a clear violation of your property rights and move forward with getting the proper taxing done.
