Is there a way to have a criminal case re-viewed if the defendant pled guilty at the advice of his public defender?

He didn’t get a chance to tell his side of the story at all in court.

Typically, if someone has been convicted then the proper procedure would be to appeal the verdict, as long as there are grounds for doing so. Here, there is the possibility of claiming incompetence of counsel. However, this is a complicated prodcedure. What the defendent needs to do is need to do now is to speak with a criminal law attorney who handles such cases. After reviewing the case they can best advise. There may also be grounds for a re-trial depending on the facts.
