is the police officer liable for the false information he provided me

i got a ticket today for posession of alcohol by a minor. i wasnt sure about how this would affect my licence so when the officer gave me the ticket i asked if it would result in a suspension. the officer assured me that if i pleaded guilty and paid my ticket it wouldnt reach the dmv at all and i wouldnt get my licence suspended. Using this advice i checked the guilty box and closed the envelope. the officer who called my house however told me i could lose my licence for 6 months, after i (using the advice of the officer) pleaded guilty. is the officer liable for the false info?

My advice is to consult with and/or retain a criminal defense attorney with respect to this matter at your absolute earliest convenience -- meaning TOMORROW.  Skilled counsel may be able to prevent the guilty plea from being formally entered.  However, if you wait until the plea is entered then the most an attorney will be able to do is attempt to re-open the plea, perhaps based upon the false information that you received.  In other words, the longer that you wait, the more limited your options will become.
