Is it better to or not to give a statement to detective if you are the accused?

My buddy is being investigated on grounds of sexual
assault on his daughter but claims he did not do it.
What should he do?

Your friend needs to consult with a criminal law attorney ASAP. Under no circumstances should he speak with the police without doing so. He is under no obligation to submit to police questioning, even if they show up to his home. The fact is that they are trained and experienced in getting suspects to make incriminating statements about themselves.
