Is a POA or a child responsible for medical bills?
My mom passed away and made my sister POA. My mom was married but didn’t want her husband as POA. Her health insurance was under her husband. Who is responsible for my mom’s medical bills?

A POA ends when the principal (i.e. the person who gave it) dies. Further, children are not liable for a parent's debts. The estate, however, is.

I am so sorry for your loss. First understand that a Power of Attorney dies with the person for whom it is enacted. So it is no longer valid. You as her children are not responsible for her medical bills. Her estate is responsible and possible her Husband if Wisconsin adheres to the Doctrine of Necessities. But it is not for you to worry about. Good luck.
