Can one spouse open and sign for a credit card for the other spouse?

If not, is there a statute of limitations for this?

The only ways one spouse can open up a credit card account for his or her spouse legally is if the one spouse gave permission to do so or signed a written power of attorney before a notary public allowing for such an act.

If you were not aware that your spouse opened a credit card account in your name and the credit card compnat now is seeking payment from you, the statute of limitations in most states to bring an action against someone for fraud is generally three (3) years, but there is also the issue of delayed discovery of a fraudulent act that could extend the time period beyond the three (3) year period depending upon the circumstances.
