In a car accident after a demand has been submitted to the responsible party, how long do they have to respond to the demand?

I was in an accident and it was July 11, 2008. I was told that a demand was sent to the responsible party may 2009 and I was wondering how long they have to make their offer if they don’t agree with the demand.

There really is no set time to respond to a demand unless the demand letter put a specific time limit.  The statute of limitations on personal injury claims is 3 years from the date of the accident.  I would suggest that if it has been over thirty days with no response, re-send the demand with a time limit, and be ready to file suit if there is no response to that.
