First place to check is with the Florida courts, the office that licenses attorneys. Are the attorneys allegedly in the office actually admitted to the FL Bar and licensed to practice? And are they currently in good standing, or have any been suspended, etc. You could also check with state and local bar associations for more information about them.

Also try doing Google or other search engine searches for the law firm and the individual attorneys there--that often turns up useful information.

If they claim to be admitted to other states, you can check with the court offices and Bar associations, there, too.

If you're worried about any other qualifications they claim to have, such as any members who are CPAs or realtors or financial planners as well, check withe apppriate licensing agencies for those qualifications.

Get some client references, and don't just call--also check out the clients (such as with internet searches) to see if they seem legitimate, too.
