No, you may not. Remember: an employer does not have to provide any sick leave, whether paid or unpaid--an employer can legally fire employees who call in sick to work. If an employer chooses to provide either paid sick leave or at least to allow employees to call in sick (as most employers do), it can put in place any policy it wishes in that regard--including that employees must provide doctor's notes at their own expense if they call in sick.
