Then you have a defense to the eviction proceeding that will soon follow should you not comply.  Make sure that the notice was properly served pursuant to the law in your state. That is always a defense and can be fatal to the subsequent action for non-payment.  You should try and negotiate the matter with your landlord if you can.  Good luck to you.
