If my roommate hasn’t paid rent in 4 months and I was the only one who signed the lease, am I able to take him to court?
I have a day job so I always gave him my half of the rent. However, I got a call from the leasing office saying that our rent hadn’t been paid in 4 months and it would affect my credit since my name was the only one on the lease

Okay you have a lot of problems here and I think that you know that. First, do you have a valid subtenancy with the rommmate? Does your leae allow you to sublet out a room or are you in violation? If you can then you are going to have to prove the tenancy and the payments in roder to sue him for the money. In the meantime, pay the rent directly to the leasing office and cut a deal to pay back rent asap. Get legal help here. Good luck.
