I am so sorry for your loss. Generally speaking, if you were a named beneficiary on a designated beneficiary form of the instruments named above you should notify them with a copy of his death certificate. Naming some one as the beneficiary means that the monies would pass "outside the estate" and not go through probate at all but come straight to you. If you were left the monies in the Will then yes, you should be notified by the Executor of the estate. Good luck.
