If you were cited for retail theft and were convicted, your conviction would be part of the public record and could appear on the local crime report map with specificity as to yourself, the convicted offense and the like.
If the theft of the item taken had a value of only $1.00, the prosecution could decide not to prosecute the case, but most likely that will not happen.
