If I lied on a police report, can I take that part out or will my case be thrown out?

I want to know if by me saying someone was invited over instead of we arrived together would make a difference in my assault case.

I think that it would be best for you to speak with a criminal attorney in your area in the matter as soon as you can.  Lying to the police is a crime, believe it or not.  Giving false testimony under oath would be perjury and that would not be a good idea either.  The attorney you consult will keep the information confidential BUT they can not support the perjury in any way to allow you to testify to the truth of what you told the police when they know that you lied.  What the attorney can help you do is to amend your statement. The attorney will let you know how that bit of information will matter within the facts of your case and the confines of the law in your state. Your credibility is at issue here.  Good luck.
