Good question. Ordinarily the trust itself sets forth the means and ways how two or more trustees are to be compensated which typically is a reasonable fee for what has been done.
There is no set rule when it comes to a trustee's fee which in the matter that you have written about each could get paid for time worked instead of splitting what one would expect to be paid per what an executor would be paid under the probate code of each state.
