If my employer closed without giving us notice or any type of severance, can we take any action?

I worked in a small buisness and when I called to receive my schedule for the week, one of my co-workers informed me the company was closing; there was no longer anything in the store. We were no given any type of notice no severance. I was just wondering if I could tak any legal action?

Under the laws of all states in this country a "severance" package for an employee who was let go from work was once customary when the economy in this country was much stronger but no more.

Under the laws of all states in this country no one is entitled to a severance package unless there is a written agreement between the employer and employee offering and accepting such dated and signed by both.
