Under the laws of all states in this country, one's employment is terminable at will by his or her employer on the proviso that one cannot be legally terminated based on discriminatory reasons such as gender, religion, ethinicity, sexual preference and the like.

What your manager told you is a form of "bullying" or "harassment". Given what happened you need to report the incident to human resources and/or a representative with your local department of labor.
