If I work as a hourly employee but am required to punch out before the days work is completed, is this legal?

Also, mandatory staff meetings are not paid. Is this legal?

Employers are legally required to pay their hourly employees for all work they do--including work they do near or at the end of the day, or time spent in mandatory meetings, which are considered work. Furthermore, they are required to keep accurate time records--i.e. records of all time worked. Therefore, from what you write, your employer is violating wage and hour law; you could contact the labor department to place a complaint, or speak with an employment attorney about suing.
