I was terminated from Corrections due to having a stroke but paid my dues to the union and they failed to represent me. Able to return to light duty.

What recourse do I have? What attorney can represent me , when they are all working together with the sheriff?Do I have a law suit?

Okay, couple of things:

1. Get your union contract or collective bargaining agreement.

2. Contact an attorney in Massachusetts who is well-versed in labor law/union law, especially with the Department of Corrections.  Try www.attorneypages.com and then check his or her record at the Massachusetts State Bar.

3.  You may indeed have a lawsuit depending on a few things, like if they are required to accomodate you and what you need to show to come back to work.

Talk to the lawyer.
