If I was riding my bicycle and hit a person’s tailgate, am I responsible for repair or replacement?

We exchanged info and I took pictures of the dent, then we went on our way. Her truck was a month old off the lot. She wants a replacement tailgate but I think it is fixable. The estimate she received was $1200 and my estimate for repair is $500 guaranteed for the life of the truck.

If you were at faut, you would be responsible for the damages that are reasonable. What is reasonable depends on the condition of the vehicle and the repair
