What legal action could my former employer take for continuing to use company services after I was laid off?

I was laid off from my job about 5 months ago and left on good terms with a severance package. I was the only salesman at my company and advised my company to purchase a lead generation subscription to help me with prospecting. I recently logged back into said program and am no longer an employee. My boss has found out I was downloading prospects from the software. While the industry I am working in now is completely different (not in competition with him in any way totally different industry) he found out and asked me to call the company and remedy the export credits I used. Can my boss take any legal action against me if I am unable to fix this?

Yes, what you did is a form of theft--taking something to which yu are not entitled. While the authorities (e.g. police, prosecutor) are *very* unlikely to take action in a case like this, your employer could sue you for any costs or losses you caused them.
