What does it mean for me if I exclude a driver on my insurance policy?

I was involved in an accident where my car along with two other cars was hit by a drunk driver. I was in my car by I had someone else driving it. She was hospitalized and had several surgeries and we don’t know yet whether the driver had insurance. My insurance company sends me an email telling me that I have to exclude the driver or add her to my policy.

If you exclude someone from your insurance policy then, just as the term "exclude" implies, if you get into an accident and that person is driving, your insurer will NOT provide coverage--i.e. they will not pay for any damage, injuries, etc. caused by that person while driving your car.
