How can I find out about my status here in the US?

I was 11 years old when I came here to the states from Lebanon. I have worked on and off since I was 16 and have a drivers license and a SS card but I found out through E-verify and the SS office that my SSN is “technically not valid for employment” even though I have been filling my taxes every year and getting my refund without anyone saying anything the SS office has even sent me letters telling me how much money I will get once I retire. Anyway, I’m 42 years old and I have always assumed that I’m a US citizen.

Hello. Please go to the Social Security Administration (SSA) website which describes in detail the three types of Social Security cards issued by SSA. Do then go to a SSA office for further questions or concerns, and, of course, do contact any United States licensed attorney who handles Immigration law matters for assistance as need be. Some attorneys are available seven days for emergency legal needs. Many attorneys will confer initially at no charge. Then, if legal work is performed, some attorneys will provide a reduced fee for financial hardship. Some attorneys may also assist you in limited scope manner to conserve legal costs. All the best.
