Do I have a case for age discrimination if I told my boss that I was thinking of a retiring at the end of the year and a month later I was laid off?

I am 62 years old. The mistake I made was being honest and up front with her. Do you think I have an age discrimination situation?

You may have an age discrimination case if you can show that the layoff was in direct relation to your age. To begin the process of a claim, you can file an online claim with the EEOC or you can consult with an employment law attorney. You are not required to hire an attorney to assist you with the process, but it does help to insure that you don't miss critical steps in the process.  Employment law is a type of law called "administrative law."  In administrative law, if you don't file or request certain actions at certain times, then your claim will be barred going forward.
