How to collect payment due for a car sale?
About 3 months ago I sold a car to an acquaintance for $3,000. They were to pay $500 down and $500 per month. However the downpayment bounced and have I have gotten nothing.

You could file a lawsuit in Small Claims Court. After obtaining a judgment against the debtor, you could obtain a wage garnishment to collect the amount of the judgment. Your damages (the amount you are seeking in your lawsuit) should include the $3000 plus court costs. Court costs would include the court filing fee and process server fee.
