What to do if I signed a car contract for a friend under my name but my friend let his brother borrow the car and his brother got into an accident?

The car was uninsured and I am now being sued for injury and damages. If I hire a lawyer could it help me transfer the lawsuit to the friend that caused the accident?

The fact is that in case of an auto accident, both the at-fault driver and the owner can be held legally liable for any resulting damages. Additionally, as the registered owner, you should have made sure that the car was not driven if it was not insured. At this point, you should speak with an attorney and see if they can help you; possibly to sue the at-fault driver for any monies that you may be out regarding the incident.
