I need to know how the statute of limitations works?
It is a personal matter with an ex-which boyfriend occurred over 4 years ago. There was no contractbut this year he finally admitted in writing that he owed me money. Is it worth going to court for to try and get the money back or is the statute of limitations an issue? In GA.

The statute of limitations could be an issue. You don't indicate which state you are from, which is a critical fact: every state has its own sets of statutes of limitations. You need to look into the statute of limitations for your state.
