How do Iget a limited driver’s license to get to work and to help my grandmother?

I am 20 years old. I have a DUI. I realize my mistake but I must get to work daily. I work nights and all weekend. Public transportation is not really a practical option because of my hours and the location of my company. I have no support from anyone. My job and my one class a week is all I have going on. I feel blessed to have a full-time job. I work hard and I am doing well. I transferred to be able to help my grandparents. My grandfather just died and I must help my grandmother some on my days off. I need to drive to help.

If you need to get a restricted driver's license for work related opportunities only, you need to file a petition with the court where you were convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance seeking this request and serve your state's department of motor vehicles with the request. You will also need to serve the district attorney's office that prosecuted you for the offense as well.

If you do not have a criminal defense attorney to assist you, you should consider retaining one in that the process will be much easier for you if you have someone who has filed similar petitions previously.
