All states in this country require all employers to have worker's compensation insurance in effect for their employees who are injured on the job or injured in job related activities. If the employer does not have a worker's compensation policy in effect when the injury occurs to a given employee, the penalties are significant to the employer.

If you were injured on the job and your employer or supervisor advised you that you would be terminated from your position if the injury was reported, such conduct is illegal by the employer and/or your supervisor. Legally an employer cannot terminate an employee for making a claim for a job related injury.

You should consider consulting with an attorney and/or the local worker's compensation office about the threats of losing your job if you report your on the job accident. Based upon the advice received, you should consider reporting your on the job injury via a formal report.

Good luck.
