If I have to pay alimony but just got laid off, what should I do?

Just not pay it or contact the court?

You can file a petition with the court for modification of spousal support. A change in financial circumstances is a strong argument supporting a modification of spousal support.
Check with the court clerk for the appropriate forms you need to file with the court and serve on your ex.  The court will schedule a hearing on the issue of modification of spousal support.
