What to do if I have problems with people whistling at me at work?

This has been going on for about 3 years now and it simply will not stop. Once I report one person of doing this then another starts. I understand that it is subtle and different from other types of workplace harassment, such as name calling or sexual indecency but it is nonetheless hurtful.

If you believe it is sexual harassment--e.g. members of the opposite gender are whistling at you in a way which traditionally indicates romantic or sexual attraction--then if it's your coworkers doing this, you well have a legal claim or cause of action. Sexual harassment at work is illegal--even when it's the more subtle kind. You may wish to speak with an employment law attorney--many provide a free initial consultation, to evaluate a potential case--to see how strong your claim might be, what it might be worth, etc. As another option, you could contact either the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the equivalent state agency in your state and file a complaint.
