What to do if I have not been able to pay child support for over a year due to being unemployed and injured?
The custodial parent has moved from state-to-state-to-state-to-state. I am getting child support notices from all these states and can’t afford to pay them. Additionally, the original state keeps charging me the full amount of child support every month (not the past due amount) even though she doesn’t live there any longer, plus I’m receiving notices to pay the state in which she currently lives. What is the best way to resolve this? I recently started working and want to pay but don’t know where to start.

You need to sit down with some one and get this ironed out. You should have requested that the court amend the order of support - at least temporarily - because of a change in financial circumstances. You can not just stop paying the amount ordered. You need to explore the ability to modify the amount "nunc pro tunc" - now for then - to at least clear up some of the arrears and move forward. Good luck.
