What can I do if I have had a public defender but want to fire them and get an attorney who better represents my interests?
They filed a motion for me and the hearing is 30 days away. Is there any way to have the motion withdrawn?

Find the criminal defense attorney you want to hire and make sure s/he is ready to take over once you fire the public defender. Then fire the public defender and hire the defense attorney. Ask the new defense attorney if s/he thinks it is a good idea to withdraw the previous attorney's motion. If s/he does, then your new attorney will withdraw the motion and the hearing will be cancelled. If the prosecutor opposed the motion, s/he will likely agree to stipulate to it being withdrawn and the judge will agree.
