How far back is an employer legally go back in a criminal history record in order able to make a hiring decision?

The job is for a hotel event staff position. I have a felony drug convection from 19 yes ago. it was just probation.

The law doesn't say: an employer is not required to review criminal history at all, and, if they choose to do so (while not required to check criminal background, they are allowed to, and can use the information in hiring decisions), the can decide how far back they want to go.
